With the 2012 London Olympics right around the corner, there is excitement everywhere. Jones caught up with Carmelita Jeter who won the 100-meter dash at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, she is focused and ready to represent Team USA in London. Always having a natural talent in athletics Jeter is known for her impeccable speed. Winning numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals, the World Champion ship sprinter understands the importance of hard work and persistence. “Being a woman in track and field you have to push yourself so you can be recognized for your hard work,” explains Jeter. She is a woman who practices what she preaches because she has won gold medals in both the 4x100m relay and 100m while winning silver in 200m. Just last year Jeter was awarded the 2011 Jesse Owens award. With much acclaim under her belt, Jeter stays balanced through her loved ones. “I have a great family and support system that keeps me grounded and humbled,” she explains. With track “officially a full time job.” Jeter’s training schedule keeps her busy. “My average day consists of training about 7-8 hours, going to the gym two times a day and hitting the track about three hours a day.” When Jeter is not training she is resting, taking her vacations and enjoying activities such as basketball, driving speed boats and shopping. We had to ask this “So Jones” woman about her style. “Every day for me is Nike sweats, but if I am not training I am a J.Crew girl. I love blazers,” she says. Some of her favorite designers include Gucci, Ralph Lauren, bcbg, Philthy Ragz, and Herve Leger. With great style, her glowing skin comes from a beauty regimen that includes “getting facials at Cosmetique Med Spa and relaxing massages at Burke Williams. Jeter seems to be on top of the world and manifesting her heart’s desire through her favorite quote, “I want it all.” Yvelette Stines @calmingcorners
