The Oscars of High Fashion were met at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where Anna Wintour, Miuccia Prada and Carey Mulligan all welcome the most glamorous of music and Hollywood stars at last night’s annual Costume Institute’s ball.
This year, fashion's finest are celebrating Prada as well as Elsa Schiaparelli, who together comprise the Costume Institute's new exhibition, "Impossible Conversations".
Beyoncé: appeared looking ultra svelte post-baby in a figure revealing Givenchy sheer number.
Jessica Alba: who has just celebrated her 31st birthday, in a golden Michael Kors gown and deep red lips.
Rihanna: who usually tends to opt for the stunning and glitzy gowns played it cool with a applique crocodile black Tom Ford gown that showcased her best accessory of the night, her very attractive body.
Carey Mulligan: in a fish scale shimmery gold Prada dress and satin pumps.
Anna Wintour: host wore a floor length Prada gown.
Sofia Vergara: was a silver sensation in a dramatic lace Marchesa floor length gown, she accessorized with fuchsia lips and a silver bracelet.
Solange Knowles: appeared alongside designer Rachel Roy in one of the designers stunning yellow, peplum gowns accessorized with a metallic clutch.
Paula Patton: the actress wore a blush pink floor length gown, nude lips and chandelier earrings.
Rosario Dawson: wore a liquid black Calvin Klein gown, hair parted to the side swept into a lovely chignon.
January Jones: the Mad Men actress wowed the red carpet in a yellow and black, Versace strapless gown, accessorized with Cartier jewels.
Eva Mendes: graced the red carpet in red-orange Prada dress adorned with oversize stones on the bodice, which also featured the hot peplum trend.
Amber Heard: arrived alongside designer Zac Posen in one of his Fall 2012 collection pieces, an orchid duchess satin bustier strapless gown, accessorized with Tiffany jewels.
