Christian Louboutin is suing YSL and its parent company PPR for Trademark Infringement in U.S. Federal Appeals Court. The debate on whether or not you can trademark a color has both parties at odds. Louboutins rebuttal is they are only trying to trademark a color in a specific spot. He stated "I do not own a color. I own a specific color in a specific place," like Tiffany & Co. with their blue boxes. A Lower Court rejected a request by Louboutin to stop sale of the YSL all red shoes... including the sole.
